'Windswept Barn Wood' Manufactured in the US

Windswept Weathered Wood (Barn Wood) boasts the usage of standing dead beetle kill trees; all wood fiber and manufacturing processes are 100 percent generated within the US (rather, with nothing being outsourced in a far-off country).

It wasn’t so long ago that manufacturing was the biggest, most powerful, most influential sector of the US economy.

Then along came the communication/information revolution pushing ahead of manufacturing.  After that came competition from China with labor costs of $4 - $7 per day.

Then followed the devastating impact of 9/11, the War on Terror, and the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars was followed by the longest and deepest recession in US history.

As this recession continues, sourcing economical environmental products that are not outsourced have become slim to non-existent.  Windswept Weathered  Wood (Barn Wood) is among these elite products.

This warm Eco-Story continues:  Windswept Barn Wood is backed by stringent grade rule associations, stress and span ratios can specified without guesswork or additional engineering costs.  Yield is also a tremendous selling advantage, as both minimal waste factors and accommodating length structures remain attractive.

The color and uniformity of Windswept Weathered Wood (Barn Wood), predominantly in manufacturing applications, has proven to be most beneficial.  This combined with a modest price investment supplements a healthy bottom-line.

NEW VIDEO, "Pray for Colorado" Wildfires

In our June 16th Blog we focused on the wildfires in Colorado, as our Windswept Weathered Wood product is derived from beetle kill and or blue-stain trees that have been steadily dying in the Rocky Mountain regions.  These dead or dying trees continue to be a major contributor to wildfire, they encompass hundreds of square miles and they represent prime targets for continued devisatation.

Please view the video link that details this unfolding story in tragic detail, it is entitled "Pray for Colorado".  We believe this compelling video shares this tragic saga as a worth while share.  Beetle kill forests do not have enough demand to cycle this wood into production areas, thus the potential to eliminate a larger percentage of this fire hazard remains.

We are proud that our Windswept Weathered Wood product utilizes these trees most deem unusable, fashioning an environmentally friendly product that never existed before; the Eco benefits are enormous and long-term.

Please keep these people and communities in your thoughts and prayers.  Feel free to share this video.

Colorado Wildfires - Windswept Weathered Wood

Colorado Wildfires, Beetle Kill Forests
In Colorado and New Mexico, we are currently witnessing an environmental tragedy on our television and computer screens. A combined 140 square miles of raging forest fires continue to ravage dead or dying beetle kill forests that lay vulnerable due to the fact that a large majority of fiber is deemed unusable.

These mountain regions maintain an abundance of dead trees to fuel these fires, also raising questions about how the forests have been managed. If you look closely almost anywhere in these regions it's easy to spot swatches of red, places where insects have killed the most vulnerable trees.

Documented sources have stated that up to 100,000 trees per day are available for harvest in Colorado and Southern Wyoming, as a result of suppressed forest fires and lack of thinning.

One of the many hazardous byproducts of these fires is dangerous and preventable carbon emission. Practical and sound environmental answers continue to remain in short supply. However, the usage of Colorado beetle kill by area lumber mills have discovered a remarkable way to turn wasted standing dead fiber into Eco-smart, environmentally friendly uses that benefit both the environment as well as the economy.

Windswept”, a division of Teton, West Lumber, Inc., based out of Cheyenne, WY and Northern Priming & Pre-stain located in Kersey, CO utilizes salvage beetle kill fiber. Together they process the dead or dying fiber into 100 percent usable, on grade weathered wood products that are environmentally and aesthetically pleasing.

Lumber industry grade rule associations regulate all beetle kill and standing dead fiber to be graded in every aspect as that of new wood, including structural integrity and load bearing spans.

Consider “Windswept” products as they represent an ideal, cost efficient choice that caters to the needs of the prudent and environmentally mindful.

When searching for weathered wood type products, many similar tag lines are searched, such as barn wood, reclaimed wood, recycled wood, antiqued wood, reused wood, sustainable wood.  The most predominant searches also include siding products, such as: weathered siding, reclaimed siding, barn siding, barn wood siding, antiqued siding, reused siding, just to name a few.

Make sure you are making an environmentally sound choice when searching these type products.  Windswept represents a smart-choice for all weathered wood products, weathered siding and weathered wood siding.  Windswept is also an ideal choice for interior lumber products such as: paneling, weathered paneling, weathered wood paneling, weathered lumber, weathered wood lumberreclaimed paneling, reclaimed interior products and much more.
